Bosc-Long 2015 Late Harvest Muscadelle Doux
PRODUCER INFO
- Gaillac is one of the most varied appellations in southwest France and one of the oldest wine-growing regions – the Romans planted vines here as early as the 1st century.
- A handful of places, including Cahuzac-sur-Vère with around 1,100 inhabitants, are allowed to carry the Gaillac Première Côtes classification for rich, aromatic sweet white wines.
- In the Tarn Valley, the best south-facing slopes of the first slopes to rise from the valley (Premières Côtes) with their loamy-chalky soil are reserved exclusively for the vines.
ABOUT THE WINE
- Sustainable farming practices in the vineyard. At peak ripeness, vineyard is defoliated by hand and grapes are dried on the vine by the sun and wind.
- Fruit is then hand harvested from a 2 1/2 acre vineyard planted in 1988 and has soils of limestone with a layer of marl and clay on top.
- Only 1.5 tons of fruit an acre is harvested from this vineyard making this an especially rare wine.
